Omayra La Bella’s Winter Beauty Tips

Winter is one of the most exciting times of the year. The winter season brings us together with family and friends to celebrate Christmas and the New Year. During this hectic holiday season, we sometimes forget to keep our bodies hydrated, our exercise routines tend to decrease, and our appetites increase with all the food and sweets we enjoy at the holiday gatherings. These distractions are not bad, if they are only temporary. That is the reason I would like to remind you all of a few tips to help keep you in shape and looking radiant and beautiful.

1. Hydration is important all year long, but especially during winter, because your thirst decreases due to the lower temperatures, staying well hydrated during winter is as critical as it is during the summer season. Instead of drinking glasses of icy water, drink warm water, homemade smoothies and healthy hot beverages like ginger / lemon tea and cinnamon tea.

2. Good nutrition is something we can never ignore; it keeps us from getting sick. To help boost your immune system and keep your health on point during the winter months, I recommend adding fruits and veggies, like sweet potatoes, red peppers, tomatoes, and citrus fruits to your meals as they are rich in vitamin C, which plays a significant role in boosting the immune system and our energy levels. Other healthy recommended vegetables and fruits to eat during winter are winter squash, pomegranates, cranberries, cabbage, apples, brussels sprouts, and pears. All these have elevated levels of vitamin A, C, K and more to help keep your health on point and your immune system elevated.

3. Our exercise routines tend to decrease up to 49% during the winter season, “statistics say”. Being exposed to cold temperatures our body begins to lose heat faster than it can produce and for that reason is important to keep movement in our bodies. If you tend to exercise more outdoors, make sure to check the temperature, if is too cold outside dress in layers, wear comfortable and warm sneakers, and a winter beanie hat, with warm gear and sunscreen, to protect your head, hands, feet, and ears. Do not forget to drink enough fluids. Indoor exercises are recommended during winter, as there are so many exercises that you can do at home, if you do not want to travel to a gym. At home you can do stair stepping, dance, lunges, planks, high knees, jump rope, and lift weights. Exercise always keeps our blood pumping and increases our energy levels.

4. I also recommend, IV - Vitamin Therapy Infusion – This therapy is a fantastic way to pump your immune system, re-hydrate, replenish, restore, and add that glow your skin needs during the winter months.

5. How do we protect our hair during the winter? The winter season can be tough on our hair. The air outside is colder, the air indoors is dry, and we are also dealing daily with harsh water treatment chemicals and hat hair. I recommend using a humidifier at home. Indoor heating causes the air in our homes to become very dry, pulling moisture out of our hair. Humidifiers help rehydrate the air around us, which keeps our locks looking lustrous. Lower the water temperature when you shower, water that is too hot can zap moisture from your hair making it brittle and more vulnerable to breaking. Never leave your house with wet hair, walking outside in winter, with wet hair can cause it to freeze and break. Wear a hat, make sure to line your hat with silk or satin to help prevent damage. Use a shampoo and conditioner that has richer consistencies to keep hair hydrated and healthy throughout the harsh and dry cold months. Use an oil treatment, the top hair oils I recommend are coconut oil and almond oil.

6. Facial care is my number one concern all year long, but especially during the Winter season. Research shows there is less moisture in the skin during winter than in the summer, as well as fewer lipids contained in the skin barrier. For that reason, I personally recommend my natural skincare line, called “INNATA - Inspired by Omayra La Bella ''. Why? Because each product has a specific function and causes both beneficial and adverse changes. Since we are entering the winter season our skin, including the lips, tend to be dryer than normal. The Enhancing Lip Plumper, a non-sticky formula helps hydrate and soften the lips with a sweet, peppermint flavor which keeps your lips fresh and moist. Always use a facial cleanser to help to remove makeup and clean at the same time, I recommend the Perfect 10 Oil Cleanser a dynamic combination of natural plant oils that cleanses skin without leaving behind a greasy residue. In turn, the skin appears nourished, smooth, and bright. It is important to moisturize our eyes and the Eye Corrector Serum has bergamot oil, citric acid, and peptides which help to leave the areas around the eyes hydrated and smooth. Serums and moisturizers are a plus to apply during the winter. Our Vitamin C Serum has Caribbean orange oil, citrus stem cells, vitamin C, and hyaluronic acid which provides a boost of hydration, while the vitamin C helps to provide that extra boost that we need. Our Hydrating Face Moisturizer is key, this moisturizer has aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin B5. It hydrates your cells, renews, and creates a healthy barrier on the skin. INNATA skincare products provide the help needed to improve your skin, so when you are out in public you look both glamorous and radiant and stand out from the rest. 7. Make sure to use the proper body wash or soap in wintry weather. Dry skin in winter is so prevalent that it can feel like an inescapable side effect of the season. You want your skin to feel refreshed and look moisturized, especially during the winter season. Take short, cold showers and avoid long, hot baths. Extremely hot water can dry out your skin and a long shower is more likely to cause skin dryness. Aloe Vera & Cocoa Butter are great ingredients for your body wash or soaps.

8. Body lotion is a plus to wear, applying at least two or three times a day in the winter. It is important to apply moisturizer right after a bath. An ointment is best, if you do not like the greasy feel, use thick cream instead. Oils such as Vitamin E can help support the moisture barrier.

9. It is also important to rest all you can, as our bodies and skin need it. The holidays are the most social time of the year, between traveling, getting together with family and friends we often forget to rest enough.

10. Make sure to dress comfortably and warm during winter. Make sure to wear a hat, mittens or gloves, layers of loose-fitting clothing, a scarf or knit mask to cover your face and mouth, sleeves that are snug at the wrist and a water-resistant coat and boots. During the Holidays keep it safe and the most importantly is to keep a positive vibe.
